Day 2 (Megan Mcgehee)

Hi it's Megan!
We made it to our second destination. It's a really nice lodge with a great view of the land and mountains. Today is Saturday and tomorrow we're going on the safari at Olduvai Gorge. We're still kind of getting used to everything/ sleeping at every chance. We ate breakfast around 8 this morning, and so much for loosing weight this trip!! The food is awesome. I was expecting rice and beans at every meal, but our food is actually catered by the safari company this whole trip. It is a lot colder than any of us expected but luckily we stopped by the used clothes market today to get some jackets and whatnot... Tanzania is really neat so far. I can't wait to buy some cool stuff. We went by an art gallery that had some beautiful paintings and things. On the way here some baboons crossed the street in front of our van, which was really neat. We also saw a pack of zebras and antelope from the road. Once we got to the lodge today after a three and a half hour drive from Arusha, we ate lunch and then rested for a bit. A few of us actually fell asleep by the pool. Then we had a meeting and listened to a speaker, Mr. Paresso, the head of station at Olduvai Gorge, who informed us a lot about the human skeletons found in this area of Africa. This included some of the oldest bones in the world. It's been really interesting so far and I'm sure it will get even more interesting as the trip goes on.

Hope this was fun to read! You'll be hearing from another one of us tomorrow.

Talk to you later,

Megan
